The Nairobi County government on Wednesday night shut pubs and clubs it accused of operating in residential areas.

County law enforcement officers raided the hangout joints at night and confiscated chairs, tables and other portable property belonging to the entertainment joints.

Governor Evans Kidero lauded the move which he said made life at residential hard.

Kidero said the clubs and pubs closed played loud music at night interfering with resident's private lives.

The raided joints were those in Kilimani, Milimani and Langata.

"This evening [Nairobi County] enforcement team shut down several noisy pubs and clubs operating in residential areas around Kilimani, Milimani and Lang'ata areas," Kidero posted on his official Facebook account.

"Law and order must be restored in Nairobi County."
