Naivas, one of Kenya's largest supermarkets could close shop in Kisumu.
The supermarket was among business premises whose property was destroyed on Monday during Cord's anti-IEBC protests in Kisumu.
Although the management of the supermarket has not clearly indicated that it was closing its Kisumu outlet, a senior manager who did not want to be named could neither den nor confirm the reports.
Reports circulating on social media also indicate the supermarket after incurring losses during Monday's anti-IEBC protests was considering shifting from Kisumu to Kakamega.
"At this moment, I cannot confirm the information, neither can I deny as it has not been made official," said the manager.
However, the officer did not rule out the relocation possibility and acknowledged that moving the Kisumu branch to Kakamega was good considering the events that transpired on Monday.
Reacting to the reports, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria congratulated the Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya for creating a conducive business environment in his county.
During the Monday protests in Kisumu, Naivas and Tumaini supermarkets were pelted with stones allegedly by Cord supporters a claim Cord leadership refutes as false as they also point accusing fingers at Jubilee for hiring goons to disrupt businesses in the lakeside city.
