Nairobi, Naivasha and Kisumu towns have been cited as towns with high number of unlicensed liquor outlets.

Speaking to the press on Thursday at Naivasha town, the National Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) chairman John Mututho accused some bar outlets in the towns of operating illegally and failing to adhere to the laid down rules.

The chairman said that a crackdown on the outlets operating illegally will be launched soon.

“We have learnt that most bars and liquor outlets in Nairobi, Naivasha and Kisumu are operating illegally,” he said.

Mututho at the same time called for collaborative measures in fight against drug abuse and I illegal brewing.

He said the agency itself will not be able to curb illegal brewing without the support of other stakeholders.

Mututho also warned Nacada official and staff allegedly colluding and giving out licensces to rogue operators saying their days are numbered.

He indicated that stern action will be taken against the officers saying it’s against the code civil servants code of conduct.

On Wednesday while at Vine Pack Limited in Thika town, Mututho said the agency has planned inspection on all alcohol manufacturers across the country.

He warned that licenses of those found operating illegal will be revoked.
