The County Government of Nakuru has ordered Ganesh Eco Solutions which is situated in Nyamathi, Naivasha sub-county to suspend all its operations.
The battery assembly plant was asked to ensure that it repairs the factory before continuing with its operations.
Speaking to Journalists yesterday from his office in Nakuru town, Samuel King'ori, the Nakuru County Public Health officer said that the factory will remain closed until it abides to all the set regulations and rules and also comply with all the recommendations.
"As one of the requirements for the safety of its workers, the company has failed to provide a solid waste treatment plant and also protective gears and equipments for all its workers. The factory is also lacking a water source and a signboard showing details of the factory. These are some of the key reasons that have made us to shut down the factory,” said King'ori.
King'ori said that the notice to shut down the factory was issued on Monday after the public health officers visited the factory and found some of the operations to be very wanting.
"Before it resumes its operations, the factory will be required to show us the certificate of Environmental Impact Assessment,” said King'ori.
Residents of Nyamathi area together with some of the environmentalists around Naivasha sub-county had earlier opposed the construction of the factory in their area citing environmental harm.
