A woman in Naivasha is calling on the government to intervene in a case where a group of people have allegedly threatened to grab her land.
Esther Wanjiku Kagechi of Munyaka farm South lake region in Naivasha said her life is in danger following threats by a group of people alleged to be behind a plot to grab the piece of land.
"My plight has been unheard for long. Together with my children, I hardly sleep since these people are always trying to send us away. These grabbers have been attacking me, beating me together with my children and are now planning to demolish my home to scare me away," she said.
"They have been forcibly tilling the land which I legally own and now want to take it away, the only place I have known as my property for years,” Wanjiku said.
According to her, unscrupulous land dealers sold the piece of land to a buyer lately without following the right procedure.
She has now reported the matter to the area chief and is waiting for response which she says should be expedited before she is forced out of her home.
“They want to force themselves in a place they don’t own. They bought it from some land brokers ignoring the fact that there were some rightful owners. I do not have anywhere to go with my children. I do my farming here which is my only source of livelihood. I urge the government to step in and help me because I have all the evidence and documents of ownership to prove that I own the land,” Wanjiku said.
