Speaking in Naivasha town during a tree planting activity on Wednesday, Naivasha sub county Forest officer, John kimani said he was optimistic that the realization of the vision 2030 wholly depends on Kenyans themselves.

He advised the residents to curve a section of their land for planting trees.

He noted that through the forest extension programs ,the department aims at increasing the forest cover by collaborating with existing community based organizations, Sacco's and ‘chamaas’.

"Buying seedlings as an individual is too costly but when the expenses are shared it is more affordable,” said kimani.

Karnja Njogu a resident said agro forestry is the way forward as the land will be protected from erosion. He said that a farm surrounded by trees is more productive compared to a land without trees.

He encouraged farmers to practice agro forestry for better production.

"I want to urge my fellow farmers to practice agro forestry to improve their farm fertility hence increase production,” he said.

“The forest department is charged with the responsibility of giving farmers technical advice on tree planting and educate them on management of the trees,” he said.
