The management of Naivasha Hospital is looking for relatives of a man who was abandoned at the hospital since 2014.
The man identified only as Muiruri was admitted in the hospital with head injuries and as result he lost memory, the only thing he remembers is that he comes from Jawatho in Njoro.
According to the Star, in an interview with the hospital’s Superintended Joseph Mburu, he said that the level at which people are abandoning patients in the health facility is alarming.
“We are worried by the increasing number of abandoned patients, mainly old men, as this is affecting our budget and space in the wards,” Mburu said.
In addition he said that they are forced to waive at least Sh500000 per month because many patients are unable to clear their bills.
He said that they have formed a committee to look into the increased cases of their clients not being able to clear bills and what should be done.
“The committee meets with the relative of a patient and if it’s a deserving case we do waive the whole bill or part of it. Every month we are waiving around a half a million,” Mburu added.
