The cabinet secretary for Environment Judi Wakhungu has formed a board whose main agenda is to address all the challenges that are facing Lake Naivasha.

Wakhungu who was speaking yesterday in Nakuru town said that the Naivasha Imarisha management board is going to seek funds from a number of potential donors in order to facilitate the rehabilitation of the lake.

"The board will ensure that it monitors all the compliances with the law and also all the regulations that governs the lake. The board is also going to collaborate and work hand in hand with other research institutions inorder to ensure that activities that are aimed at conserving the lake are highly promotes,” Wakhungu said.

Kengen senior manager Cyrus Karingithi is going to be the chair of the Imarisha board. Karingithi was also the one who was going to represent the industries and also the business community around the Naivasha sub county.

Sarah Higgins would represent the Naivasha Riparian Association; Paul Ruoya would represent the water resources users associations. Andrew Ole Koisamou would represent all the civil society while Joseph Kariuki would represent all the Naivasha growers associations.

Wakhungu said that the Imarisha Board would also have representatives from the KWS, Kenya water towers, Environment Ministry, Nakuru and Nyandarua County.

Board Acting CEO Kamau Mbogo who spoke while in Nakuru town yesterday said that he was very optimistic that the lake and all its catchment areas were going to be rehabilitated and maintained well.

“The board is currently sourcing how to get the needed Sh2 billion for the whole rehabilitation process to be completed,”  Kamau Mbogo said
