Naivasha GK Prison inmates have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to scrap the life sentence.
The inmates said they are mentally tortured because they will spend the rest of their lives in prison.
Willis Opondo, an inmate serving life sentence, said he has been in prison for more than 20 years and he will be happy if Uhuru will consider their plea.
"For the years we have been in prison, we have reformed if released we won't commit any crime," he said.
An officer at the facility Patrick Mwenda said the life sentence discipline should be removed.
"Life sentence should have a limit for instance those who have served over 15 years should be pardoned since most of the inmates have reformed," said the officer.
Mwenda added that Kenya should emulate other countries where a life sentence is defined by years.
The officer was speaking on Saturday when over 3,000 prisoners at the Naivasha Prison were served Chapatis by members of the Naivasha Rotary and Rotaract Club.
