Naivasha MCA Simon Wanyoike has rubbished calls from the opposition demanding the removal of the KDF troops from Somalia.
Wanango said that their stay was important, especially for fighting terrorism in the region, further arguing that the withdrawal of the troops from the area will open doors for terrorists and give them an open playing ground.
“Kenya already made a stand when it sent its troops to Somalia that it would not condone terrorist activities. It was a decision made after much consultations and discussions. The opposition makes it seem like we entered the decision blindly, which does not make any sense,” he added.
He was speaking to journalists in Naivasha, where he lamented that the opposition was using the recent acts of terrorism to intimidate the government.
“Kenyans will fight till the end. The opposition is making unnecessary noise while trying to politic on the insecurity in the country. This has to stop,” added Wanyoike.
Wanyoike appealed to Kenyans to preach peace, especially at the grassroots levels.
“Kenyans must realize that they are the biggest beneficiaries to peace in the country. Its a high time they started defending the government and supporting them by starting to encourage each other to live amicably,” he added
