Naivasha town may face mass demolition if the National Construction Authority (NCA) decides to demolish all buildings constructed contrary to the safety laws.

Speaking in Naivasha on Saturday, National Construction Authority official Crispas Ndimo said that about 70%of storey building in Naivasha were illegally build.

Ndimo warned that the Authority cannot wait until buildings collapse adding that such buildings may soon face demolition to avoid unnecessary deaths.

He said most of the building were poorly constructed hence endangering lives of the occupants, he advised those who have plans to construct new buildings in the area to seek advice from NCA in order to come out with a proper constructed buildings and safe for occupants.

“All illegally constructed buildings will be demolished. I urge those who want to construct houses to liaise with the NCA for proper and safe construction of houses,” advised Ndimo.

Moses Puma an engineer with the Authority also said that most building in Naivasha are at risk of collapsing since, according to him they were not constructed accordingly.

The engineer added that NCA will take action before things goe wrong like in other parts of the country noting that, “Most buildings in Naivasha were poorly constructed hence endangering lives of their occupants.”
