Speaking to the press at Naivasha town on Tuesday, the MCA raised concerns over the increased number of fake churches that claim to be performing miracles.

He said that the government has a responsibility to regulate registration of churches in the country.

“The national government to probe all churches and deal with those leading their flocks astray. The Attorney General should conduct an audit of all churches to protect Kenyans,” he said.

The MCA said that many churches are operating without legal documents a move he said has contributed to emergence of fake churches.

The MCA further called for investigation and prosecution of Pastor Victor Kanyari who was exposed by a local TV investigative series receiving money by performing fake miracles.

He also asked the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to move with haste and prosecute the pastor over the alleged crimes.

He at the same asked the church fraternity to monitor and deal with those using the word of God to steal from unsuspecting worshippers.
