Government agencies in the region on Friday launched a sting operation to flash out bhang peddlers after receiving leads that a man of the collar, from the Akorino faction, was one of the ringleaders in the region.

“It is a shame that a member of the clergy is a bhang peddler, and he has no manners that he has even proceeded to plant marijuana on his own land. We will arrest and prosecute him in court in line with the law,” said Aguoka.

According to Aguoka, who was speaking to reporters in Naivasha during the crackdown, the move to dig out bhang peddlers from the corners of the town will see the county government win the war on drugs and substance abuse in the region.

"We have been fighting this war for a very long time and I am sure we will win it. Those involved in this kind of illegal business must stop now because the law with catch up with them when it is too late,” Aguoka said.

He added: "We have netted bhang worth Ksh500,000 in the operation we have just carried. This is just a drop in the ocean of the millions of shillings that can be reaped from this business because we have discovered that there are bhang plantations in this region and we are committed to clear them."

He expressed confidence that the county government will ensure the entire region is free of bhang.
