Naivasha sub-county peace committee has cautioned leaders against utterances that may fuel conflict among the different tribes living in the area.
Briefing journalists on Wednesday at his office, the committee chairman Matea Ole Maella said that they will summon the leaders, whom they allege have been inciting the public.
He said that no political leader or other person would be allowed to spew hatred.
“We are going to deal with leaders who continue to spread inciting messages in their public addresses,” he said.
Maella also said that they will present the names of the said leaders to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for further action.
The chairman said that some leaders are to blame for continued conflict in some parts of Naivasha, especially on matters concerning land.
He further noted that the committee will continue to implement strategies meant to unite the people, also urging the public to avoid leaders who do nothing but preach hatred.
He said that Kenya belongs to every citizen, hence the need to embrace and exercise unity.
