The armed gang is said to have carjacked the lorry at Mai-Mahiu-Narok junction on Tuesday.

The gang is reported to have drugged the driver before stealing the electronic goods.

The lorry was transporting electronic goods from Nairobi to Eldoret before the night incident.

Apart from stealing the electronic goods, the carjackers are said to have stolen an undisclosed amount of money from the driver before escaping.

Confirming the incident, Naivasha Police boss Charles Kortok said a manhunt for the gang has been launched.

Kortok said they are following crucial leads that will see the suspected criminals arrested.

“We have launched immediate search for the gang and soon they will be behind bars,” he said.

Kortok decried rising carjacking incidents along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway saying that security officials are deliberating on how to deal with the issue.

The Naivasha police boss cautioned motorists especially long distance drivers against driving after midnight.

He said that criminals are taking advantage of the dark to rob them of their valuables.

Kortok also urged motorists against giving lifts to strangers noting that most of them turn out to be criminals.
