Residents of some parts of Naivasha now want the government to come up with strategies to curb the overflowing of storm water in the area.
They have noted that majority of the main roads in the town were blocked once it rained, rendering them impassable.
“Every time it rains, even the vehicles get stuck yet the road is tarmacked and it is in the Central Business District. We are forced to either wait for the water to drain away or to literally remove the water suing cans,” said Lucy Kamau, a resident.
Janet Wanja, another resident said that majority of the culverts in the area were also full of rain water, making it hard for them to move around.
“They easily get filled with water and coupled with the fact that most of them are full of garbage, they have become a health hazard. In most cases, people get stuck when it rains,” she added.
Joseph Mutongu expressed fears of people being swept by rain water if nothing will not be done.
“The roads and the lee ways are completely impassible. We have to wait for more than three hours before water can finally drain. We fear that young children and drunk men risk being swept by the murky waters which could eventually lead to uncalled for deaths,” he observed.
They called on the area Member of Parliament John Kihagi to help solve the mess.
