Residents of Karai in Naivasha are still in shock following the fatal road accident that occurred in the area on Saturday night.
During the accident, 40 people lost their lives after a tanker carrying inflammable materials exploded along the road.
Residents who addressed various media outlets recalled what happened on fateful day.
“I heard a loud bang and then the truck rolled on the side of the road where cars heading to Nairobi were, it knocked the first car then fire started,” said Jesse Kamau a witness.
Kamau narrated the 9 pm incident still shaken by the turn of the evens but thankful for surviving.
“It is difficult to say what led to the accident, but I suspect the man didn’t know this road well,” said Kamau.
He said the driver must have applied the emergency brake at the bumps because of the screeching sounds of the brakes, he added that the town is still trying to recover from the shock of the incident since not all activities had resumed.
