The Ministry of Water and Irrigation with its sister institution has chosen to mark the 2016 World Water Day celebrations at Mirera Primary school in Naivasha, Nakuru county.
In an invitation letter to learning institutions within Nakuru county, the February 16th note by Water Resources Management Authority Regional Manager, Benard Omuya, indicates that the venue was selected because the theme, "Water and Jobs" is well exemplified by the water related jobs created by the flower farms, tourist lodges, irrigation, agriculture and geothermal energy production found in Naivasha.
Institutions have been identified by the World Water Day Organizing Committee as key stakeholders due to their active role and activities in ensuring that water resources are well managed and also providing the basis for which secure jobs are created.
This event takes place every 22nd day of March each year.
