The workers from the department of environment and public service took to the streets carrying twigs and banners before dumping garbage on various roads.

Various MCAs from Naivasha supported them and hit out at the county executive in charge of finance for the current crisis.

Speaking on phone, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua attributed the crisis to a technical failure adding the workers will be paid.

“There was a technical problem on how the workers were employed but they shall be paid as the supplementary budget has been passed now,” he said.

According to one of the workers George Ng’ang’a, they haven't received their salary for six months.

“We have run out of patient and decided to take our grievances to the streets so that the governor can come to our rescue,” said the worker.

Another worker, Eunice Wambui, said that her son failed to join form one due to lack of fees and called on the governor to help them get their salaries.

MCA Samuel Waithuki lashed out at the county government over the issue.

“These are parents who have obligations but the county has failed to pay them for six months despite fully offering their services,” he said.

He said that the county used millions of shillings to prepare for the Madaraka day celebrations adding that it was shocking that the workers could not get salaries.
