They said they have been sidelined in the project, yet "it passes right at our doorsteps".

Speaking to the press in Naivasha Wednesday, they urged the government to create more jobs for them, especially as casual labourers.

“The greatest impact should be felt especially by creating more job opportunities, including shops in many toll stations, “ Kelvin Muthiani said.

Peter Muchemi said the railway would also enable quick transportation to Nairobi and hence challenged the government to help youth in securing taxis for transporting residents to the various stations.

“If they can be able to give us cheap and affordable loans for us to invest more in the transport business they would employ more than 10,000 youths in the process,” he added.

Jane Wangui, an ICT expert, challenged Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to put free Wi-Fi , popularly known as Bilawaya, in the stations.

“This is the only way we can be able to create cyber café of to do online marketing of the products that are from Nakuru and hence expand the job market,” she added

Susan Wanjiru challenged the county to also employ people as locomotive drivers.
