Nakuro said a new initiative where alcohol reformists will be used to arrest those making the illicit liquor will be launched soon.

He said the new plan will involve youths who have reformed from alcoholism to sensitize locals on the need to stop the outlawed businesses.

“This time around we must end making and selling of illicit brews because police officers will be using a thief to catch a thief also. Youths who have changed their alcoholic ways will be leading police to dens to destroy and arrests liquor dealers,” he said.

The commissioner stated that parents should be vigilant during this long April holiday because school going children who are on holiday may be involved in alcohol consumption.

He warned that any bar or restaurant which will be found admitting underage children over the long April holiday will be closed down and owners be arrested.

“Bars selling alcohol should be vigilant not to sell alcohol to underage children because if found a severe punishment will be taken on the offenders,” he added.

Nakoru urged parents to engage their children to keep them busy during the long holiday.
