Giant supermarket chain Nakumatt has denied reports that the outlet has plans to close down eight branches countrywide.
In a statement on Monday, the supermarket called on customers to ignore the rumors .
"The directors of Nakumatt can categorically confirm that the company has no intentions of closing these stores, some of which are our most popular branches."
The supermarket has been facing a financial crisis due to a huge amount of money owed to suppliers.
The supermarket had asked for the government's help to clear the debts, a move which the government has turned down.
