Nakumatt Supermarket in Eldoret has been indefinitely closed over a rent dispute with the owners of the building demanding over 21 million in rent arrears.

Workers arrived for duty in the morning only to find the doors of the premises closed and a notice of closure posted on the doors.

Distraught workers could not hide their disappointment as they pondered what the future held for them following the closure.

Regular customers at the popular outlet also expressed disappointment at the closure of their favorite shopping point in Eldoret.

The closure comes at a difficult moment when a few other supermarkets are also going through difficult moments. A case in point is Uchumi Supermarkets which has had a difficult time in 2017.
