Despite the companies best efforts to remain afloat Nakumatt Supermarket’s Junction branch in Nairobi has been closed down.

According to a public notice issued on Sunday, the Supermarkett gave up its rights to the premises in accordance to a surrender dated September 15, 2017.

“The premises will be closed to the public from October 1, 2017 and no trading will be permitted at the premises,” read the notice.

However, Nakumatt has come forward with complaints and has written a letter to the owners of Junction Mall over access to the branch.

In the letter they accused the landlord of acting in bad faith cautioning owners that any further delays would result in legal action.

“We have, in the above circumstances, demanded that Junction Mall immediately provide us with continued access to our premises to enable us to continue to trade and to desist from the predatory behavior,” reads the statement by Nakumatt.

“As this has not happened as at the time of issuing this statement, we are taking urgent action to protect our legal and constitutional rights.”
