Nakuru CountyH Executive, Daniel Mungai said that they have entered an agreement with the supermarket chain, which will see them construct a modern toilet at the park and manage it for sometime before handing it over to the county government.

Speaking Saturday when he toured the site intended for the construction, Mungai said that the new public toilet will help solve the shortage of public toilets in the town.

“Through the private –public partnership we have agreed with the Nakumatt supermarket that they will put up one modern and big public toilet here and manage it for some time before we take it over,” said Mungai.

“The government is also encouraging the private sector to help in solving the shortage of public toilets in Nakuru town owning to the rising population by urging them to invest in the business of public toilets and we are ready to provide them with land,” said Mungai.

Nakumatt Nakuru Branch manager Devchand Shah said they agreed to fund the project as one way of partnering with the county government in raising the status of Nakuru town, which he said is growing at a faster rate.

“This is just one of those projects on which we are going to work with the county government in ensuring we as Nakumatt also participate in transforming the county and I can promise that the kind of toilet we will put here will be one of its kind,” said Shah.
