Nakumatt Supermarket has suffered another financial blow after the closure of two more branches.

This comes as the company closed down its outlets in Busia and Bungoma thus bringing the number of closed outlets to five this month.

According to reports, the supermarket has been forced out of several locations across the country over failure to pay rent.

Other outlet closures include Nakumatt's Mombasa Road outlet at NextGen Mall and their outlet at Thika Road Mall (TRM).

The company is currently awaiting the verdict of a court case set to take place on Wednesday regarding the closure of the Nakumatt Junction branch.

In similar news French retailer Carrefour has expressed their interest in replacing Nakumatt’s space at Junction Mall.

The comes after Carrefour replaced Nakumatt at TRM.

“As announced before, Carrefour is actively seeking opportunities to grow and expand its footprint in Kenya and the region. We will therefore consider taking up the anchor tenancy at The Junction,” Carrefour Kenya country manager, Franck Moreau said.

“We will notify you formally, should we take the space.”
