Nakuru County Assembly yesterday turned chaotic as the push and pull issue of the majority leadership in the house played on the floor of the house.

The MCAs allied to the newly reinstated majority leader George Mwaura accused house speaker Susan Kihika of being biased and taking sides.

"The Speaker has become a politician and she is no longer objective. She came in the house before 9.30 AM and there was no quorum. That was not following procedure,” said Edward Gitau, Visoi Ward MCA.

The Mwaura allied camp MCAs say that the Speaker decided to adjourn the house when she realized that they were the majority in the house.

"All is not well in the County Assembly and the problem is that we are being dictated upon by the Speaker which is not going to work,” added Gitau.

The MCAs now want the president and his deputy to intervene saying that the stand-off may paralyze the county government’s work.

"We are very annoyed with how things are being handled. There may be no budget if the status quo remains,” said Tinet MCA David Koech.

Mwaura was reinstated recently by a political parties’ tribunal after he was kicked out on June last year in favor of the now ousted Samuel Waithuke.
