The weatherman has warned residents in counties expected to receive heavy rains starting March.
Among counties where floods and storms will be felt is Nakuru, the Kenya Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.
Kenya Meteorological Department head Peter Ambenje said floods will be felt in Nakuru as streams and rivers will break banks.
The rains will start on March 1.
Other counties where the rains will pound harder include Kakamega, Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, among others.
The rains, the weatherman added, will be minimal in North Eastern counties of Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit and Mandera.
In a statement, the Met called on farmers from counties that will receive moderate rainfall to take advantage of the rains to prepare land in readiness for planting.
The rains will be on for the whole of March before reducing in April.
Nakuru is an agriculturally endowed county and the heavy rains may negatively affect the planting cycle for most farmers.
The county government last week said money had been set aside to counter any destruction that the rains may cause.
