Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua must be one lucky governor as his county is slowly regaining its lost glory to become an apple in the Head of State’s eyes.
Within the last three months, the President has made a total of four notable visits to the county, with the triumphant visit being the prayer-cum-thanksgiving ceremony at Afraha stadium on April 16, not to mention the goodies he brings with him.
Word has it that Uhuru’s dad and the founding father the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta loved Nakuru so much and he would frequent the State House located right at the heart of the town.
Is it the case of like father like son in play here?
Barely a month later after the last visit, plans are in high gear to have the Madaraka Day celebrations held at the same stadium, where Uhuru will grace the occasion.
Does this point to a means of appreciation for the huge votes the President got from the region, a strategy to establish another ‘stronghold’ in the next year’s general election?
Whatever the case or otherwise, those who stand to benefit are Kenyans as the developments that come with it end up reaching all wananchi.
Governor Mbugua has a reason to be proud among other governors especially those from whose jurisdiction; the President has not managed to visit.
‘’Celebrating here with us will make devolution more meaningful. As Nakuru County we thank the President for allowing us to host this historic day and we call upon all Kenyans to come out in large numbers to celebrate and also welcome our Head of State,’’ Mbugua said on Saturday during the inspection works at the stadium.
