Drama ensued at the NYS training college in Gilgil Thursday, after Administration police officers who were part of Madaraka Day celebrations security detail at Afraha Stadium demanded to be paid their allowances.
The officers declined to get to an already waiting lorry to shuttle them back to Administration Police Training College in Nairobi forcing Nakuru County AP commander Francis Kiraithe to flee to escape their wrath.
The officers said they would not leave until their allowances were paid.
They have been in Nakuru for the last one month preparing for the celebrations.
They said there was selective payment as their colleagues in the National Police Service and prisons were paid their allowances Sh34, 0000 and Sh20, 000 respectively.
“This is unfair because we all were involved in gracing the occasion and it is only fair that we be paid what is rightfully ours,” said a source who requested not to be named.
Similar accusations are not new in the country as last year; famous Reece Squad which responded to Garissa terrorist attack also raised questions over delayed allowances.
