Kivumbini Ward Mca aspirant Neto Sakwa Alukutsa has officially resigned from ODM Party citing unfairness and will contest the seat as an independent candidate this after he was cleared on Tuesday by Registrar Political Parties.

In an exclusive interview on Wednesday, after being given okay to contest as an independent candidate in the August polls, Sakwa cited unfairness in the way ODM as a party handled the conflict that arose from nominations and went ahead to issue a certificate to one candidate in unclear circumstances.

In his clearance letter from the registrar of political parties dated April 28, 2017, it states that Neto Sakwa is no longer a member of any political party and has been cleared to vie as independent for the Kivumbini Ward seat in Nakuru East Sub County.

“I have officially resigned from ODM party due to unfairness in the way they handled the crisis that arose from the party primaries and I will vie as an independent candidate,” he said.

Sakwa, however, clarified that the decision to resign from ODM and contest the seat as an Independent candidate was reached at after consultations with his supporters.

While citing the exercise to vie as independent being tedious, he added that this was due to the fact that all those who felt the political parties were unfair had opted for independent candidature hence the huge traffic at the offices concerned.

“I did not make this decision alone but had to consult my supporters in Kivumbini. The exercise has been tedious having in mind that all those who felt mistreated by the political parties have opted for independent candidature” he said.

The news of Sakwa having been cleared by Registrar of Political parties to vie as an independent candidate was also received with joy among his supporters in Kivumbini ward.

The supporters have vowed to support him in all his campaigns towards the August 8th polls 2017.

“We are very happy that now he will go as an independent and we fully support that as residents of this ward and his supporters,” they said.

Neto Sakwa Alukutsa has been in the Kivumbini ward politics in Nakuru town East Sub County since 2002 wherein 2007 he vied on ODM ticket and emerged number 2 in the party primaries.

In 2013, he was barred from contesting the seat due to lack academic qualifications an issue that forced him to go back to class and acquire the required academic qualifications that enabled him to be strong in 2017 polls expected in August.

“At one particular time in 2007 my votes were stolen I became number 2 and the party leaders intervened and agreed that instead of the party losing the Kivumbini seat I should support number one…..I did so and in 2013 due to lack of academic qualifications I was not on the ballot but I went back to class and I am ready to serve now” he said.

Kivumbini Ward is one of the three Perceived ODM stronghold wards in Nakuru county which is perceived as strong Jubilee zone.
