In a rare show of unity, several parliamentary aspirants for the Nakuru Town West have joined hands to preach against politics of hatred and ethnicity ahead of the 2017 general elections.

The aspirants from different political parties on Wednesday gathered at the Nakuru West district headquarters and vowed to preach against tribalism during their campaigns.

Led by the Nakuru west aspirants chairman Mwangi Kariko, the leaders in one voice agreed that ethnicity had no place in the constituency and called on residents to live together in harmony and shun negative ethnicity.

“As aspirants we want to join hands and voices and spread one message of unity and togetherness even as we head to the elections in 2017.We know that Nakuru west is home to all tribes and that is why we are committed to ensuring that all these tribes are united instead of being separated by tribal based politics,” said Mwangi.

On his part Erick Ogada who is also an aspirant said that divergent political opinion should be taken as a dividing factor among different tribes in Nakuru west.

“Nakuru west has so many tribes and our main aim as aspirants and leaders is to see all these people united even if they are in different political parties,” said Ogada.
