Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has urged the youths to embrace sports activities as she unveiled the Bahati Youth Tournament. Speaking at Wanyororo area, Ms Kihika said that the youths are the pillars of any nation and by participating in the sports, crimes like drug abuse and pornography will be reduced. She noted that her focus is to develop the culture of sports among the youths. She said that sports can help discover hidden talents in young people. Lydiah Kwamboka, a Bahati resident, said the sports initiative was timely at a time students on holiday. “The tournament will foster co-existence among the constituents,” said Kwamboka. Kihika said that the tournament will be in favour of all Bahati youths who will have to compete for the prizes at various levels. The Nakuru County Wards have been allocated sports funds and equipments in the 2014/2015 budget. Kihika urged the youth to shun drugs, bad morals and crime, saying those who embrace sports will receive trophies and certificates of participation among other awards.
