A Private college in Nakuru has entered into an agreement with several local tourism stakeholders to train their staff members foreign languages that will help boost tourism business.

Speaking to this writer Hyrax Commercial College Principal Ziporah Njogu said the college had started a Foreign Languages Programme.

“We are also targeting those who want to venture in tourism related and international related careers,” said Njogu.

She noted that a pact had been entered between her college and major tourism industry players in Nakuru including leading tourism hotels and tour companies who will dispatch their employees to study foreign languages at the college.

“This is not an ordinary language teaching programme. It has strings attached because our partners have special interests. We are targeting employees of leading local tourism hotels and companies to train in Germany, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese among other foreign languages that are popular in tourism,” said Njogu.

She added that the six months part time training programme is expected to kick off in June.
