A Nakuru based Non-Governmental Organization that supports orphaned and poor children in the county has launched an on-line fund raising portal that will be significant in reaching out to international donors and sponsors in its charity activities.
While speaking to this writer in an interview on Friday in his office in Milimani estate, the Programmes Director of Education Supplements International Charles Maingi said the on-line funds raising portal was a milestone in the NGO’s goals.
Buoyed by past successes in local charity works supporting orphaned and children from poor backgrounds meet basic needs and education, the Education Supplements International hopes to expand its services across the country once the on-line funds raising portal starts realizing fruits.
“What we are doing is to try and market ourselves as a leading child support organization in the country. This idea was suggested to us by some of our international partners and who even funded its design and launch and they have promised to help market it to other potential partners,” said Maingi.
The programmes manager added that the portal will be linked to dozens of both local, African based and overseas stakeholders in child care and education among other programmes the NGO involves in to go hand in hand with modern digital marketing and management cultures.
“This will enable a user friendly navigation of the portal by donors and other users. For now, we are applying VISA credits cards but we are working on plans to introduce other credit cards services,” said Maingi.
Recently the organization donated school uniforms, food, sanitary towels, classroom building materials and books worth Sh30million to over fifteen schools and children’s homes in Nakuru County.
