Kinyanjui was released after being detained for more than ten hours.

Kinyanjui claimed that the post, which originally appeared on the Kenyan Daily blog, was being used as a scapegoat as the county government has intimidated him before and threatened arrest.

“I have been arrested during the Kinuthia Mbugua more times than I was arrested during the Moi era,” Kinyajui said.

Kinyanjui argued that the main reason behind his arrest was a recent list he released on his Nakuru Analyst Whatsapp page.

“They had been elected as the Interim leaders of the JPK party and were the ones who were spearheading the campaign in the county,” He said.

He called on journalists in the county to be more vigilant, saying that they were now targets of the government of the day.

“I would urge my colleagues not to be creatures of habit as they might end up in a worse scenario,” he said.

He was speaking at a Nakuru hotel on Thursday where he called on the government to ensure that the freedom of press is upheld.

Kinyanjui's lawyer Kamonjo Kiburi said that he will appear before the CID on January 18, 2016.

“He is being charged with the misuse of communication gadget,”Kamonjo said.
