Speaking on Friday during the launch of the distribution of Sh70 million drugs at the Nakuru County headquarters, Kemsa South Rift region Director Dr. Shamim Kuppuswamy, said that Nakuru County is rated on top of the forty seven counties as the only county which has spent big on medicine purchases.

Shamin said that the county has spent over Sh234million on medicines purchase alone in the past financial year, more than even what Nairobi County has spent.

“Nakuru County has taken the health of its residents with the seriousness it deserves because among all the 47 counties Nakuru has allocated more money to its health sector more than any other county,” said Shamim.

“Since the inception of the county governments, Nakuru County has been one of the best clients Kemsa has received,” added Shamim.

He further added that Kemsa will continue cooperating with Nakuru County to ensure that all of its public health facilities have adequate supply of medicines at all times.

On his part, County Health Executive Daniel Mungai said that they have allocated more resources to the health sector, because they are committed to transforming the health sector and making health care easily accessible and affordable to the common people.

“It is true we have invested a lot not only in medicines but also in equipping our hospitals so that our people can get the best health care services at an affordable cost,” said Mungai.
