A group of motorcycle riders in Teachers estate in Nakuru have raided a private home and recovered five motorcycles suspected to have been stolen from their colleagues. According to the group’s leader, Elijah Waweru, the riders had been carrying out investigations before raiding the abandoned homestead on Monday, barely a stone throw away from the Teachers police post. The motorcycle operators said that a middle-aged man who occupies the house that belongs to his late parents is suspected to be working in collaboration with armed criminals who target motorcycle riders. “One of us was robbed of a motorcycle at gunpoint near this house after he had ferried a passenger from Nakuru town centre last weekend,” said Waweru. "While he was escaping after pleading with the crooks to spare his life, he said he noticed more suspected crooks emerge from the compound. We therefore started investigating the owner of the house.” “We have since established that the chap is not a straight forward person and we have reported the matter to police,’’ said Waweru. Waweru said that his group members stormed the compound of the house at around 6am in the morning but did not find anyone in the house. They, however, broke into the garage and recovered five motorbikes including the one that was stolen on Saturday. Teachers police post police officer in charge, Mercy Musyoka confirmed the incident and said police had recorded a statement from the bodaboda riders and had started investigating the matter. The police are also looking for the man who occupies the house as he is suspected to be colluding with armed criminals targeting motorcycle riders.
