Nauru's Kenyatta Avenue. Business people in Nakuru have lauded the county government and security for banning demos in town.
Just hours after the planned Monday demos in Nakuru town were called off, stakeholders from the business community in Nakuru have commended the county government and the security agents for banning the demos.
Addressing media led by Henry Waweru, the leaders commended the police over the move.
They called on security agents to ensure peace is maintained in Nakuru. They said what happened in 2007 should not be allowed to happen again.
“There were planned demos in Nakuru but police have taken measures to stop them. We want to call on all security agents in Nakuru to ensure there is peace in Nakuru and we don’t want any demos be it from Jubilee or Nasa,” he said.
Meanwhile, Waweru condemned former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua and Kabando wa Kabando for pushing a dialogue between Uhuru and Raila.
“Let Kabogo, Martha Karua and Kabando know that there is no dialogue that is coming. We have elections on 26th of this month and that is it,” said Waweru.
Sentiments echoed by Dickson Munyiri, a business person within Nakuru town.
“As business people we are not happy when we see this kind of political stalemate and that is why we are saying no to demos. We want to have elections on 26th we rest this matter,” he said.
