A Nakuru woman accused of killing her tycoon husband will remain in custody for two weeks as high court will rule on bond applicant.

Justice Roselyn Korir ordered that Gladys Wambui is remanded for two weeks as the court rules on whether to release her on bond.

"The court will be required to go through the proceedings and the arguments by the state, victims lawyers and the defense before delivering a ruling on bond application by the accused person," said Justice Korir.

This was after Wambui, through her lawyer Wambei Makomere, demanded a review to a ruling remanding Wambui until three key witnesses testify over the fear of intimidation.

The court had ruled that since Wambui has a close relationship with their employees, she would interfere with the case.

The family of the deceased through their lawyer Wahome Thuku told the court that the three witnesses (two employees and a brother to the deceased) are close people to the accused and can not be covered under witness protection. 

Other suspects were released on a Sh500,000 cash bail.

Gladys Wambui, Rahab Mukenye, Alex Okwemba and James Muhonja and Nicolas Madegu were charged with the murder of Julius Kimani on December 1, 2018 at Manyani estate within Nakuru county.

Kimani Mathu, who was married to the accused and had four children, was abducted by a gang of armed youths on his way as he returned home from work.

His mutilated body was recovered at Manyani area tied with ropes and had deep injuries on the head, chest, legs, and hands.

The four were arrested and police continued with investigations and apprehend Mudegu bringing up the number of suspects to five.

The prime suspect, Gladys Wambui who is the second wife of the deceased and is alleged to have hired killers with Sh1.2 million as a deposit.

The court also ordered that defense is supplied with all documentary, electronic and photographic evidence and witnesses statements that will be used against the accused.

The court slated the hearing for April 11.
