Kariuki said that the country is governed by set of laws that should be respected by all citizens.

“The law stipulates that a suspect should be arrested, arraigned in court and charged but not lynching them,” said Kariuki .

Kariuki was speaking on Wednesday at Kiamaina Slums, Bahati Constituency after saving a teen who was on the verge of being lynched by residents over allegations of stealing a chicken.

James Mwangi, 18, was saved by the chief after angry residents claimed that he had stolen a chicken and seven eggs.

The administrator warned the residents that action would be taken against those who will be found contravening rules.

“The provincial administration will not allow people to break laws; every one has to obey the set laws,” said Kariuki .

Kariuki however urged youth to abandon crimes and seek advice from his office whenever over weighed by problems.

The chief further urged residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiatives to reinforce security in the area.

For now Mwangi, the suspect, is being held at Kiamaina Police Post. He is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
