Calvary Church of Kenya committee chairman Reverent Samson Mwangangi, in an interview with HiviSasa.com on Friday said over 50 families at Muchanganyiko slum area along Nakuru-Subukia road will benefit from the rehabilitation programme that will cost about Sh2million.

He said the church that is located near the informal urban set up will partner with Water Service Trust Fund organisation and Habitat International to reconstructing old residential structures, dig boreholes and build a nursery school and a health centre in order to improve the lives of the marginalised cosmopolitan families living as squatters.

The church leader observed that residents of the slum were living under poor conditions because of neglect by the government and other stakeholders.

“Our church is basically a charity organisation. We will take the responsibility of uplifting the living standards of people around the church through the rehabilitation plan," said Rev. Mwangangi adding that the project will also provide employment for the locals.
