Conflict is brewing up between the Nakuru Athletics Club management and Biashara ward Jubilee MCA candidate after the said MCA candidate invaded a space adjacent to the club.

According to Nakuru Athletics club chairman Lawrence Githinji, the Jubilee MCA candidate invaded the area and placed a container ready to proceed with his business.

Githinji adds that when questioned why he had invaded the space belonging to Nakuru Athletics club, he said he was clearing the place to avert public using the area as urinal point.

“He came cleared the place…when I tried to question he told me that he was clearing the area s as to keep off the public using the place as urinal pit only to find this container” said Githinji.

He added that it was wrong and interference of the operation of the Club as far as its image is concerned.

But in an interview, Biashara ward Jubilee Mca candidate Peter Njoroge Wanyaguthie rubbished the claims adding that he had no bad intention but was on a mission to establish a public toilet at the site.

He added that the Nakuru Athletics club was not in a position to claim the area as it was a road reserve as per the law.“The Nakuru Athletics club cannot claim the place is theirs since the law is very clear that is a road reserve. What I can assure you I must defend my people” he said.

The Biashara Ward Jubilee candidate says he decided to avoid conflicts by removing the container as talks continue over the establishment of a public toilet just adjacent to the club.

According to him the matter will be solved after an agreement is reached between the concerned parties that is the Nakuru Athletics club and the public.

“I don’t want fights so I went spoke with the chairman and told him let me remove the container and we proceed with talks to see how we can solve the matter. The public toilet will help our youths and a percentage of the revenue will go to the club” he said.

This even as the issue of public land being grabbed has been on the rampant in various parts of the country.
