Speaking on Wednesday during the handing over of referral medical equipment and an ambulance to six counties at Afya House in Nairobi, the county Governor Kinuthia Mbugua thanked the organisation for boosting health standards in his county.

“I appreciate the aid given to my county for the immense impact I will have especially on rural areas where accessibility is a challenge yet the inhabitants need the help most,” asserted Mbugua.

Other counties that benefited from the aid include, Uasin Gishu, Kilifi, Baringo, Machakos and Bungoma. Health CS James Macharia who officiated the function reaffirmed the national government’s readiness to partner with county governments to raise health standards and accord necessary assistance where need be.

“The government is ready to work with county governments and they should tell us areas of their needs so that we can commit ourselves to providing quality health care to all Kenyans,” affirmed Macharia.

The CS graced the function alongside WHO representative in Kenya Dr. Custodia Mandlhate.

Due to the placement of the county in a centralised point, Governor Mbugua asserted that the donation will aid much in handling emergency and disasters serving all people across the county.

Among other medical equipment donated included outpatient department kits, maternal and child health kits, incubators, microscopes, delivery beds and five SUVs which will be distributed among the six counties.
