The county chief officer of finance and economic planning, Kapaiya Torome, said that the county government released Sh360 million to settle all the workers’ claims. He added that the only unpaid dues are for the month of August.

“My office is clean having settled all our debts emanating from delayed July salaries. The only unpaid cash is for this month, which we will do so at the close of business this month,” Torome said.

Torome said that the cause for delay of July salaries was due to non-disbursement of money to the county from the central government. He maintained that the county revenue collection was insufficient to handle all the debts the county had but they kept most of the county operations going.

“Our revenue collection was little compared to what we need.  However, it kept us going with none of the service sectors stalling,” he added.

He assured residents that there would be no strike from the public service sector since all workers’ salaries had been fully paid.
