Dr Daniel Kabii has been sworn in as the Nakuru County executive member for health.
The 33-year-old surgeon was sworn in a day after the county assembly approved a report by the house committee on appointments. This followed a vetting exercise conducted on Thursday last week.
Kabii becomes the first person to hold the docket since the county government of Nakuru came into power in March 2013. Deputy governor Joseph Ruto has been holding the position in an acting capacity.
Governor Kinuthia Mbugua called on the youthful committee member to live up to the task of the docket. He added that he should keep off politics and deliver services expected by the people of Nakuru.
“The county government has achieved much in the health sector and therefore Kabii should strive to ensure that residents of Nakuru have access to quality medical services,” said Mbugua.
He noted that in Subukia sub-county alone, the county government has initiated three dispensaries and stocked them with enough drugs.
Early this year, the government purchased drugs worth Sh72 million while more stocks worth Sh100 million have been ordered.
