According to peace ambassador John Paul Ndirangu of Nakuru, these wrangles between various parties are resurrecting the ghosts of animosity in the hot issue of land. “Land remains one of the most sensitive issue among Kenyans.

Even in the history of the country, it is evident why the Kikuyus, Kalenjin, Masaais among other communities went into battle with the colonial masters,” Ndirangu said.

The peace activist said that there is need for the issue of land to be handled with immense care as it can easily explode.

“All these communities were fighting for land, even brothers fight each other because of land,” Ndirangu said.

The activist was speaking on Friday at the backdrop of land-related skirmishes that have rocked Maella in Naivasha.

Members of the Ng’ati society have been engaged in a weeks-long battle over land sharing.

There have also been issues in Njoro where the family of former Cabinet Minister Mbiu Koinange is engage is a land feud with a local community.

Other areas in the county such as Kuresoi Kiptororo, Mau Narok among others are having issues of land wrangles.
