Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said the county will demolish obsolete estates and construct high-rise residential houses.

Kinuthia on Wednesday said the county is choking due to inadequate housing caused by population influx adding that the need forf housing in the county is over 10,000 but only 2,000 is available.

Kinuthia said the county will collect views from residents living in county houses as a first step towards the initiative of constructing modern houses that will accommodate more people and at the same time increase revenue to the county.

“The participation will help us incorporate residents’ views, clear their fears of losing their houses, rent increment among other issues,” Governor Kinuthia said.

Some of the county estates includes: Flamingo, Kimathi, Kaloleni, Lumumba, Paul Machanga, Abong’oloya, Fire Estate and Ngala Some.
