The just concluded Nakuru County Youth Week yielded positive results if views from a majority of youth, organisers and participants are anything to go by.
Youths who spoke said they had learnt a lot about the county as a whole, opportunities and much more that will help them in their efforts towards becoming more versatile during the week-long event.
“We have been suffering due to lack of knowledge, this Youth Week has been an eye opener for any willing mind because all the information was put at our disposal by relevant authorities,” said Moses Alemu from Bahati.
To Alice Wairimu, being the pioneers of such a programme among all the other governors was prove enough that the Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua had a soft spot for the young generation.
“Actions speak louder and our governor has shown this to the world. Personally, I am now convinced that with the right qualifications and patience, I have a place in his government; whether directly or indirectly,” she offered.
Flanked by all his cabinet executives and senior directors, the governor organised a one-on-one interactive forum at the National Library American’s corner where youth got the chance to air their grievances in a more accommodative manner.
Organised by the Nakuru Youth Bunge forum in collaboration with the County government, the week was aimed at bringing together young people so that they brain storm and share their views on how they can make the society more vibrant through entrepreneurship, talent and mutual relationship.
Youth President Philip Ng’ok called his counterparts to action saying that as youthful leaders’; they had the responsibility of providing the required link to ensure all what was discussed at different forums come to pass.
“We as young leaders got to work hand in hand in ensuring that all promises made to us by different departmental heads are realised,” he said adding that it was the only way of making a meaningful sense out of the event.
Young people were advised to be brave and go for the different employment and tender opportunities rather than seat back and complain.
