The High Court in Nakuru has acquitted seven suspects charged with the murder of 42 police officers in Baragoi, Samburu County, five years ago.

The suspects included current Nachola Ward MCA Lawrence Lolurenyei , Christopher Lokarach, Losike Ewoi, Amojong Loturo, Jeremiah Ekurao, Lomwa Looyen and Ekai Loyee.

According to the Judge, the prosecution was unable to produce sufficient evidence to link the seven to the crime.

The massacre occurred at Sukuta Valley in Baragoi in November 2012.

A majority of the officers who died in the ambush were young and inexperienced, with some having graduated only two months before the operation.
